Ceramic tile suppliers, especially tile manufacturers, are making a big push in recent years to get ceramic tiles in their products.
That’s because ceramic tile suppliers want the quality of their products and their customers to be satisfied, said Mike Osterloh, president of the American Ceramic Manufacturers Association, which represents some of the largest ceramic tile makers.
A number of ceramic tile products are made with the same chemicals and materials that are used in ceramic ovens and ovens used to bake cakes.
That means that they can be easily contaminated with bacteria.
Osterpoh also noted that ceramic tile is not only made in small batches, but also in large numbers, which means there is more variation than is typical in the ceramic tile industry.
“This means the amount of chemicals used in the production process is different from the amount that’s used in baking,” Osterroh said.
The chemicals that are found in ceramic tiles are mostly nitrogen oxide and hydrogen peroxide, both of which are highly toxic to human health.
“If you are baking ceramic tiles, and they are exposed to a high concentration of these compounds, it is possible that these compounds could be released into the environment and contaminate food, water, and food-related products,” Osters said.
So the ceramic makers have made a concerted effort to improve the way they manufacture ceramic tiles.
Osters cited the latest Ceramic Ceramic Technology Center certification that shows the company’s products meet safety standards.
“In fact, this certification is actually better than the Ceramic Industry Certification Program (CICP) and is actually more than twice as good,” he said.
A Ceramic Technologies Center certification means a ceramic tile manufacturer has met the requirements for the ceramic materials used in their product.
In addition, a ceramic technology center certification is considered the most stringent level of certification for ceramic tile.
In other words, it gives the ceramic tiles manufacturer a higher level of confidence in their performance and the product’s safety.
The ceramic tile market is expected to be worth about $300 billion by 2040, according to a report by consulting firm Ovum.
The majority of that will come from tile sales.
The report also predicts that ceramic tiles will account for just over 10 percent of the total U.S. commercial tile market by that time.
Oosters said that the ceramics industry has been able to make inroads into the residential market in part because ceramic tiles have a low cost of production.
“Ceramic tiles have been making their way into the homes of a growing number of people and we think that will continue to increase,” he added.
The market is growing, too, but it has been slower than other industries, like the food and beverage sector, Oster said.
In the past five years, the market for ceramic tiles has grown at a slower rate than the total commercial tile industry, which grew by about 2 percent per year over that period.
Oester said that while consumers are looking for more affordable tile products, the ceramic industry is focusing on selling the best products and services, like baking ceramic cakes, and the companies that are best positioned to deliver them.
He also said that companies like Ceramic Materials Inc., which makes ceramic tile for ceramic oven, are working to improve their products to make them more durable and efficient.
