A British couple who built their home in a field in Burnaby, British Columbia, have been forced to rebuild it after the tile on the inside of their house began to burn.
The Burnaby Fire Brigade said that the ceramic tile was installed on the property about a year ago and that it was removed last month.
The Burnaby Regional Fire Authority said it was investigating the cause.
The fire brigade said it received a report of the fire on Saturday.
It was extinguished by Sunday morning.
It was unclear why the tile was starting to burn on Sunday, but the Burnaby National Fire Service said it is looking into that.
The couple, who were not identified, said they were not told about the fire before they had the new tile installed.
The couple built the home on their property after renting from the government and bought the land from the city of Burnaby.
